Yeah I think you need a better reason for wanting to bring a human into the world. There are other things you can do to reduce period pain that don't involve the creation of another being. If that's the only advice the doctor gave you, I don't care if they're the best hospital, it's shit advice. Go see someone else.

I got told all I could do for mine was go on the Pill. Saw a naturopath, and got a herbal solution that was unbelievable help.

I've had great success with herbs. What kind did you take?

Just got the bottle. It's got Chaste tree, Dong Quai, Evodia, Szechuan Lovage, Cinnamon, Horny Goat Weed, Ginger, Peony, Licorice, B6 and B2. How's that for bizarre? Haha.

I take two in the morning, two at night, for about a month, then I cut down to one and one, then eventually to one a day, and I can go maybe 3-4 months off it before things get nasty again.

Did you have a specific one that you found useful?

That is a bizarre combination, but only because of the eastern/western mixture. I don't usually see that here. Although I see no reason why it wouldn't work, just tradition I guess.

I take chaste tree for daily support. And black cohosh the two weeks prior to my period starting then stopping once it's done. I've had good luck with black cohosh. I tried Dong Quai but it didn't work as well for me. Although it works great for some.

I also drink red raspberry leaf and nettle tea.

I take a product called Menstrocare. I'll try to remember to check what's in it when I get home tonight and let you know.

I think the painful period=painless birth is a myth.

You could try to get birthcontrol that shortens your periods.

Coming from a woman who gave birth last year, no. It's a freaking lie.

First, you bleed for up to a month. I bled for three weeks and then got my freaking period a week later and it was abnormally heavy. I stained the mattress because I giggled, stained the couch because I sneezed, and stained the carpet just for the hell of it. All of which came out with a little bleach, thankfully, but it still wasn't fun.

I was put on birth control at my six week post-partum check up, and THAT'S what lightened my periods.

After you give birth you bleed for about a week depending on the pregnancy. It gets rid of the excess fluid and membrane from the uterus. Its not light either.
