Is it normal that i cant really look people in the eyes?

Pretty much just as the question says. I don't exactly know what it is. I can look people in the eyes when I'm talking to them, but I get kinda uncomfortable really quickly and have to look elsewhere. I remember in high school once, we had to do a social exercise where we had to stare into the eyes of the person next to us, and I found it kinda difficult. I really wanted to look away, but I made myself keep looking. But really Im just wondering if this is something other people feel. Even if its just sometimes...

    I can't either if I look anyone in the eyes I feel awkward or like I will start to cry

    Yeah im the same too. Whenever eye contact is necessary, i look at the person briefly and then look away at things in the vicinity.

    Yeah same here. Do you feel like your ugly? I feel very ugly and feel that if I stare into someones eyes they'll make a comment about how I look. So maybe thats how you are.

    I don't mind an occasional glance but too much, too long freaks me out.

    yeah, so do i. unfortunatly, all my grade school teachers sent my to the principle for being 'rude' when all i did was not look them in the eye. it makes me feel really akward and uncomfortable, but everybody eles i know keeps telling me to look at them
