No. It isn't normal. It is a repressed emotion that will manifest in physical ailments elsewhere. If it doesn't come out in tears, it may come out in other, more destructive ways.

No it's not normal to not be able to cry. It most likely is a psychological problem. If it isn't messing with your day to day life then I wouldn't worry to much about it though. Although the best thing to do if you are curious as to the cause of it would be to at least check with a psychiatrist as they will be able to give you more information about what may be causing your inability to cry and any treatments available.

If you feel that it is something you need then go see a psychiatrist and they should be able to give you a diagnoses and provide you with treatment options.

I can't say, I cry even when I have no reason to. We're all different.

But, seriously, many years? I can't imagine going a year without crying...

try to cry by making crying noises then you will eventually start shedding tears. cry more often and you will be able to cry more

That's actually really cool, maybe you've lost the capability of crying. When I feel that the voice in my head is taking over my emotion, whenever I cry in this state, my eyes don't turn red. IDK why, but I scare my mom a lot with it.

From personal experience as well as research, some depressed individuals will detach from their emotions. It’s the body’s way of saying “I’m done feeling pain that I’m unable to cope with so I’m going to let it go for a while.” I don’t know if this is your case, but it reminded me of what I went through. I couldn’t feel any emotion for a couple years.

It's normal. There are many things that can make you unable to cry and are almost always temporary and will resolve itself. After going through a year of depression it was hard for me to cry cause I was drained but now I am able to again. It was also hard when I was having problems with my testosterone but again is back to normal now.

What do you mean by "cry"? My eyes mist up when I get sentimental about something, but it's been about 5 years since I really sobbed, even though I've had plenty of reasons to feel sad since then (a bad break-up, multiple deaths of family and friends).

I think at some point your serotonin levels just get high enough that your body no longer reacts that way to severe sadness.
