Is it normal that i cant control cursing?

How can I explain this better than to say i just cant help but swear alot and i don't do it purposely, sometimes it'l be worse than others as in il have these long time periods where i curse constantly and other times where i hardly do. I hate doing it, its such a bad habit and i personally wouldn't like to be around someone who's like that. It worries me that i might swear during any inappropriate time (Family, young kids etc). Does anyone else have this problem? And if you do any way i can overcome it? This is something that i am truly not proud of. I understand sometimes you can't help but swear and thats normal but pointlessly cursing in every sentence that comes out of you're mouth is just vile in my opinion and i don't want to be like that.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with swearing! Don't try to control it! Just do it! I agree with aussiewolf about the word "fuck" (I refuse to call it "the f word"! JUST SAY IT, FOR FUCK'S SAKE!). "Fuck" is a beautiful and versatile word!

I'm glad I was raised and had no friends that cursed. When I got into college, I learned few cursing words. I tried controlling it 'cause personally I think it's not a good thing to say or hear. It's just a matter of self control.

I do have that same exact problem as you do, since I was a child. I don't know where I picked it up from either. It didn't help that I joined the military, where NOT swearing is not normal. If nothing else works, join the military, haha.

I think you need to find a better way to express how you feel when you speak. Like when you want to drop an F bomb at an inappropriate time, find another word to use. Broaden your vocabulary a little bit and you may start seeing some improvement.

It's not normal to curse all the time because curse words aren't necessary in regular speech. If you have a "Swear Jar", it can get you to stop but it might not work.

On the contrary, it might be normal for some people because whatever fills your heart and mind will come out of your mouth. If your heart and mind or full or garbage and curses, these things will flow out in your speech. It's not an issue of a limited vocabulary. It's an issue of exposure to and nurturing of garbage into one's life.

Remember the old saying "garbage in = garbage out"?? Well, it's true!! Keep that in mind the next time you want to listen to garbage on the radio or your iPod or the next time you want to watch some garbage on TV or at the theater. Trust when I tell you, it's not worth it. I know from personal experience!!!

    All the best to you!!

the f word is the most versatile word in the english language so i dont consider it swearing or it being a bad word. they are just words. if you really did hate it so much then you should know when you do it and control it. i think that deep down inside you dont care but someone told you that it is vile. i swear all the time and i can control it if need be. why dont you wrap a rubber band around your wrist and every time you swear, you flick it. you will learn not to swear after a short period of time.
