Is it normal that i cannot remember or even get over my divorce?

I was married for maybe six years. I do not know the exact time span. It is something I want to put past me and never want to think about again. What is funny is I do not remember when it was that I got divorced. I have no idea even which year it was. Have I been divorced for two years or six years? Don't know. I do know that I am forty years old and that the divorce was the most traumatic thing I have ever faced.

So my question is, is it normal that a divorce can be so traumatic that it makes you forget dates, even the year that it happened?

I would think so, especially if your spouse was someone you really were in love with. I have been in love with women that it took me maybe 5-6 years to get over and get past it. I still love her to this day,, I just learned to control my emotions and not let her memory eat me up so bad. But if you felt someone was your soulmate, then a divorce would really rattle your mind. And BTW look at your divorce papers to see when you were dvcd.

But surely you can find out the dates through documents, photos etc to know for sure? But yes I think forgetting is normal after so much trauma.
