Is it normal that i can taste what i smell?

Ever since I can remember, I always had this thing with being able to taste whatever gives off some sort of aroma. I find this kind of annoying because some bad smells(garbage, feces, anything unpleasant) ends up leaving a unexplainable, rotten taste in my mouth. Cause of this, I always have to chew on gum so I don't have to taste it but now its not as effective as it used to be....does anyone else have this odd trait? Cause I feel like a freak.

It's the way the human sensory is built. It's fine.

Yes. The two senses are closely related.

It's called Synesthesia and I have it too :) I can "taste" smells and "see" sounds, you're normal, in fact it's a very good skill to have whilst cooking :)

NOT. Your nose and tongue are senses that are always working in tandem. Without your sense of smell you'd have no or little sense of taste. It's because your nose opens into the back of your throat and the terpenes in the air catch on the back of your tongue when you inhale. So you are quite literally tasting the air. I am pretty sensitive to blood and pheromones. They give me an odd taste in my mouth

You are confusing a chemical synapse disorder with an actual THING. Our ability to taste the air is a hold over from when we were predators. Isn't evolution funny?
