Is it normal that i can't talk one on one?

I can socialize completely comfortably when I'm with two or more people, but when I'm alone with almost anyone I know, I feel like I have nothing to talk about.

With many people around, however, I'm often the "funny" guy and can start conversations and break the ice almost effortlessly.

Does anyone else feel this, and how can I help myself??

  • This is why I have an easier time meeting people from facebook or something. D: If I'm hanging out with a guy I like or something in person, shit gets awkward, real fast. And it's funny because I'm not like...lacking in the self-confidence department.

I'm also considered the funny, out-going girl in the group. However I agree with Moonster, while I can talk A LOT, I am more of a listener. In a group I feel required to talk. I think one-on-one my problem is I kind of expect the other person to be the talker and it's kind of like my brain shuts off and I have nothing good to say. Haha.

  • I have the same problem... I think it's a confrontation thing personally, but it might not be for you.

Try talking to people one on one more, it should get easier the more that you do it... just remember that people will talk to you either way, so why get nervous about making an idiot of yourself?

I'm more of a listener than a talker, so it can really get awkward when it's just one other person and me. When there are three of us or more, however, I can listen to the two of them talk a bit and insert my opinion now and then, still being part of the conversation, but also still being able to mainly listen.
