Is it normal that i can't take arguments seriously when...

While I understand that I am no fantastic orator myself, I find it difficult to take people seriously when they are arguing the case for their own intelligence or maturity in a manner such as

"I AM FUCKING MATURE SHUT THE FUCK UP"
or
"ur all ignrant i am matur adult"
or better yet
"I M VRY INTELLIGNT U R IGNIT"

When people speak like this over the internet (or even in real life) it really self-degrades their argument and I have a hard time taking them seriously. It prompts me to speak to them as if they were a child throwing a temper tantrum "Calm down, no one is accusing you of anything" or "I know you are very intelligent".

I'm no Grammar Nazi, and I do not have a hard time taking people seriously when they obviously make some effort to articulate themselves properly (like I said, I am no fantastic orator myself nor are my typing skills masterful in any way), but the examples that I have posted above strike me as rather pathetic.

Is it normal that I have a hard time taking people seriously as adults when they argue in anger or in a poorly articulated manner?

I find it really frustrating when people are raging like this and you want to explain something calmly. It's like dealing with a screaming baby.

Thank you. I have dealt with this so many times that I could have sworn I might have been the unreasonable one all along =/

Thankfully, people on this site are pretty mature. I notice it most when I play online games and have to team up with people. The moment something doesn't go exactly according to plan, they go into "Toddler Mode" and start screaming "FFS! We lost! FFS! FFS! OMG! OMG!" and then start blaming anyone and everyone for this perceived catastrophe which appears to have ended their life.

I just want to look at it objectively, come up with a new strategy given the new situation and get it communicated quickly and effectively. But it's difficult when you've got 39 team members all going "Waaaaaa! Waaaaaaaaaa! Waaaa! GTFO!"

I keep remembering that most of these players are old enough to go to war. Scary.

It's why the current election contenders are Trump or Clinton.

I sound like an overly conservative chicken-shit when I say this but I never quite understood why children that are in junior high are the ones most frequently playing these games =/

  • The sad thing is there are plenty of adults, closer to 30 then they are to 20 that would behave this way. And not even think twice about it.

Care to elaborate? I'd love to hear your reasoning if you have any to offer.

      • Just act like a kid, or not brush off a kid acting like a little baby. Like say some kid at the gym (20 yrs old or something) calls me an asshole, I would just laugh at them. But I know guys who would take it real personal. Act like it was HS all over again. Idiots.

I got in a argument with this girl on tumblr and she called me a "disrespectful fuq". The argument was mostly my fault and I had to fight myself not to call her out on her lack of proper grammar. I couldn't really take her seriously. It's spelled: F-U-C-K not f-u-q. Are people really that lazy or are schools just not tacking them anything?! All she had to do was drop the "q" and put a "f" and "c" in there!

I am a Grammar Nazi and I'm proud of it, but I do know that people make mistakes sometimes. This is different, though.

How does anyone expect to be taken seriously as a mature adult in a arguement when they don't know how to spell mature, tell them to grab a dictionary then start again!

I have to comment on this as my spelling is terrible always has been and I don't believe that spelling alone can make your argument any less mature or understandable.
However I would agree that like Avant-Garde says below people who use a word that doesn't even exist in an argument as an insult is defiantly in line with what I think you where meaning.
