Is it normal that i can't swallow a pill?

I used to be able to take pills with ease, but ever since I got a dental appliance on the roof of my mouth, I haven't been able to. Maybe I'm afraid of it getting stuck in my throat or something, and I'm afraid of gagging. Some advice, please?

    I've never been able to swallow pills and I know many people with the same issue.
    I just chew it up. Tastes horrible, but I've developed strategies for dealing with that.

      I heard chewing pills is dangerous....especially if you take painkillers. It is faster absorbed via your blood....and could be almost as lethal as an overdose. The body goes in shock.

    cut it into smaller pieces, or do what I do to my dog and buy these things called pill pockets that you put the pill in and then just eat it the same way you would any other treat. yummy!
