Is it normal that i can't stand physical contact?

When people try to touch me, even for a hug, I normally back away, hit their hand or jump. Initially, it just makes me anxious, but then if they are persistent, I get angry. My sister grabbed my arm, I told her to let go and pushed her away, she grabbed me again and I slapped her. Men only add to this. If a girl touches me, I get nervous, but when men get anywhere near me my heart starts to race, and I'm terrified. I don't know what's wrong with me- if anything?

i believe in the whole "stay out of my bubble" thing. i also don't like physical contact and get even more nervous if it's a male. some people are just more touchy feely than others and you need to stand your ground and make sure others know your boundaries. there's nothing wrong with it at all.

I can be like that sometimes. Although I have Asperger's Syndrome, which can cause social problems as well as learning difficulties. I'd say it's quite normal because you're only telling people that you feel uncomfortable with being touched. You'd be surprised at how many people out there are just like that. =o)

  • I don't think so. You like to have strict boundaries around who touches you, where, when how etc. and that is your right. Accept that your boundaries & conventional ones are not one & the same. So you need to find ways of letting people know without diminishing their dignity. That said, you have a right to define what is comfortable for you, and what is not.

I don't know about it but I do that to. And like I hate it when people touch me. But I think it's normal to a curtain extent.

I've met a lot of people like that. I usually end up dating them :( I love to be touched by everyone and I love hugs and handshakes and everything. This condition is usually caused by children who where abused. If that's the case, seek professional help.
