Why should people have to believe in anything? I'm an agnostic, I've never been religious and never felt the need of any kind of religion. And I don't hate people who are religious, so long as they're not shoving it down my throat and telling me what I think is wrong.
I have met some annoying aggressive atheists - my mom's friends, mainly - but there's no need to stereotype and say that all atheists are like that. You'd hate it if someone said that all Christians are nutjobs, or stupid for practising a religion. Let he who's without sin cast the first stone and all that.
Isn't it the very need to believe in something that's the whole problem? You stop people believing in a deity and the next thing you know they're believing in crystal energy, alien abductions, and ESP.
Being an atheist, I can say that Christians can be just as aggressive and in your face the moment you tell them you're an atheist. Personally I find that religion, if it's free of corruption and not having people blow themselves up over it, can be quite useful as a medium for bringing people together and dealing with personal problems. However, there are other mediums for this and other ways to cope. The reason I don't believe in a higher power or anything paranormal is because I was raised in a family with 2 generations of scientists and have been taught to appreciate empirical evidence for what it is. Faith being what it is, I am an atheist.
Yeah its normal. Athiests think you're ignorant, you think they're ignorant. Unfortunately people always think they're right and some people can't accept other people's opinions.
How could you hate someone for being an atheist? Out of all the people to hate, you hate the ones that don't believe in anything? Why don't you hate the creepy cult people? Atheists are just like you, but they don't have a reason to belive in anything. To them religion doesn't make sense. Is that so bad?
The way you feel about athiests is exactly how I feel about christians. And with all the shit that goes on in the world (natural disasters, starving children in africa and other places in the world, the fact that we need to kill other living creatures to survive, all the murders and crime and so many more things that are wrong with this world) I really hope there isn't a god that created us! Cause if there is he is one sick and twisted being.
Thats their business. Its best not to get worked up over things that dont affect you or your life.

I'm an athiest, and I get what you're saying. I have a religious friend, and we're always at each other's throats about religious arguments and stuff. Like, what is real and true, and what isn't. I think that athiests and religious people/people that believe in God will always generelly dislike each other a lot in some way or another. Both sides think the other is very stupid for what they do & do not believe.

I wish people would learn to get along, believe in whatever you want to believe in, as long as it makes you happy. People act so childish just because someone is different then them, not everyone has to be the same. Stop hating on people that are different than you, whether it be race, gender, religion, or whatever. As an atheist, i was offended to read that so many people on here don't like others just for being a certain religion.
Yes. But i don't like em much either. I'm sort of agnostic though, I pray to god when i need help and almost every time i eat and go to church sometimes. And i truly believe that he has helped me a few times.. And sometimes ignored me.

The Christian "god" is one of many gods, and they are all imaginary beings.
I won't put anyone down for having different beliefs, I just don't like when non-believers say people who believe in God are dumb and stuff like that. It offends me because I'm a Christian/Catholic. You all can believe what you want, just don't put others down for thinking differently.
I don't care about Atheists, really? But a really religious person can be just as much as an asshole as an atheist. Honestly, I think those who use their religion as a fall cushion deserve less respect than Atheists. I'm Christian, by the way :|.
It's normal but not accepted, because how can you lose respect for someone just because of their beliefs, when you haven't even got to know them personally? This is a choice they made with their heart and mind and you should respect that. Even if they disrespect you, you should be the better person and continue to respect them, I hope I helped
I'm Christian, but I would never EVER hate or judge someone for not believing in anything or believing in another god. That's copletely up to them. You want atheists to respect you, right? Then you should respect them too.
This is a weird subject, and everyone has their little prejudices, so while I can understand it, it is a little silly to lose all respect for them. You don't have to share or respect their beliefs, and hell, I'd say it's fine to think they're ignorant and silly in that regard, but to entirely dismiss a person based on their beliefs is taking it a bit far.
I cant stand it when people try to prove EVERYTHING with science. It's just a load of theories. I mean really. Thats, like, the first thing they teach you...
Other than that I think it's kinda harsh to 'hate' any one. Even if they are... aggravating. I agree with bleach_baby, tho ^^
