Is it normal that i can't sleep

Is it normal that I can't sleep every night? When I try to sleep (I should be sleeping now) my mind races about everything going on. If I think about something before I go to sleep, its likely that I'm not going to sleep for a few hours. I used to take sleeping pills, but I woke up one morning and passed out on my floor and had to get stiches. Never again will I take sleeping pills, so yet again I'm here left with my thoughts.

    I have that same problem right now. It is 5:41 am, and haven't slept. I am tired, but it is like I still force myself to stay awake or I am scared to fall asleep, then sometimes when I try I just worry or feel nauseous or lay there tossing and turning. Sucks butt. :c

    Write down all your thoughts on a piece of paper before you go to sleep. And then when you go to bed consciously relax every part of your body from feet up to head, one bit at at a time; I promise you that this will work.

    Have you tried sleeping in the day time.
