Is it normal that i can't sleep?

I find it very hard to get sleep, i am never tired! I try to go to bed as early as i can but i always find myself turning the light on and reading! Even if i don't start reading I still can't get to sleep! It's like my brain wont turn off i just can't stop thinking! Is this normal?

  • It may be you have insomnia or another sleep disorder if it is very serious. Lack of sleep can have side effects on your health so just be aware of that. However, it may just be you cant calm down enough, i know my mum gets this - she just lists all the things she has to do in her head and cant get to sleep for ages.
    Having a bath before you go to bed (as the decrease in body temp makes you sleepy) or herbal remedies may help as a different remedy. Kalms tablets are quite good - i used them during exams when i was anxious. Or Neals yard type of products may help. sorry for the length.

    Some people just can't seem to turn off their mind when it comes to going to bed. I'm like that too, in a way. Like the other people on here said, if you drink a lot of things like soda, tea, coffee etc, I'd cut back on that and maybe more exercise would help you out a bit. If nothing like that works, just consult a doctor. But don't give in to the whole ''take this medication to help you sleep." kinda thing. Use natural methods.

    Don't drink anything that contains stimulants or caffeine like coffee, coke, energy drinks, chocolate or even tea after 4pm. Bust your ass in the gym for at lest an hour in the evening, go home eat a healthy meal then a hot shower and off to bed. That works for me. On the other hand, plenty of sex is the best way to fall asleep. Good luck.

    May be take too much caffeine during the day that why you cant sleep.you should try doing push ups and sit ups before going to bed.it does help me go to sleep
