Is it normal that i can't see those 3d pictures?

I cannot see those 3D pictures where you have to stare at them until the picture "pops out". yes, i know i'm supposed to relax my eyes, look behind the picture, try to space out, NOT try so hard, I get frustrated when people try to tell me how to see it. i follow all the directions but isn't it unusual that I've never seen the 3d image and i've probably tried dozens of picutres??

also I have perfect eyesight and don't need glasses

I think it is the biggest conspiracy since the JFK assassination. There is no image! It's just a bunch of people trying to fool you!*

Thanks to the instructions above, I'm getting addicted to them now. I know this is an old post, but if you're still struggling, I found a great clip online. It's animated, and things just snapped into focus after I made my vision fuzzy. There are many other step by step videos as well if this one doesn't work.

There are certain steps you need to take. You don't just stare at it. You need to stare at it for awhile up close and than slowly back away. Thats how I do it. I have shitty eyesight also. I think the better eyesight you have the harder it is to see those thangs.

I hate those things! I could never see them, until one day I saw a couple in a Magic Eye book - one was a map of the world, where the continents were raised up a bit, and another from the same book was a sort of raindrop splash ripple effect. Cool, I thought - I can see them (not sure how or why, it just seemed to 'click').

Not cool - next time I looked, the images were gone, and I tried so hard, my eyes became permanently (or so I thought!) de-focussed. Seriously, I couldn't focus on anything for hours - couldn't read! That went away eventually, but now it happens whenever I try to see a 3D image, even if just for a few minutes.

They're just not worth it, give up. If it makes you feel better, I like to think that people that can't see them have brains that just aren't willing to be fooled in that way!

This always made me so mad. My sister could see them instantly. She'd say "oh it's a dragon eating a stalk of celery" or something and all I saw was dots. Ugh.

  • I think it depends on how your brain is wired. I have never been able to see them.

There are two images hidden in the dots all you have to do is slowly cross your eyes until they come together. Simple

Quick tip for you. You know how you can defocus your eye to make everything blurry? Try doing this in and out, like how the slide of a trombone works. At some point the focal length will hit the false focal length of the stereogram and you'll make something out. If you slowly pull it back into focus while trying to retain the false image, you'll get it. Occasionally I refocus too fast and lose it. As soon as you've done it three or four times, you'll be able to do it in seconds whenever you want. It's just getting the technique the first time that's difficult.

OMG! You just helped me open my eyes unto another dimension! It nearly worked this time. I didn't see a picture, but there was a very realistic depth like a room opening up in the screen and I'd given up on this completely. Thank you!

Aww, you're more than welcome. I don't even remember typing this.

I can't either and it frustrates me too. I don't know what's more frustrating, not being able to see it or someone getting all bossy and agressive trying to tell me how to see it!! Uggh.

Alot of people can't see Stereograms. I can, but it takes FOREVER but my sister (Who has been looking at them since she was 7) Only needs to look at them for a second and right away she sees them. Don't feel bad, Her and I are the only ones we know that CAN see them :D
