Is it normal that i can't make any friends on the internet ?

So, i'm a 18 years old male and now i'm in college. In real life, i think i'm a sociable person, even though i'm shy and quiet person.. i have like 10 close friend, and i have many aqcuitances that sometimes i hang out with.

But, when i see most of my friends on the internet (like facebook, twitter, etc) it's like they can easily befriend with everyone they meet there, even if those people was a total stranger.

Me, on the other hand, can't seem to be close with people i meet on the internet, i never have any close friends from facebook, twitter, etc, even though i always trying to be nice to the people that add me, or confirm me..

sometimes, it's make me feel like i'm a weird person and i also feel left out, because many of my other friends can make friends easily from the social network sites..

So, is it normal ?

    It's okay, maybe talking in person is easier for you than talking online.

    And, those of you who said online friends aren't real friends, that's not true. Well not if you've gotten to know the person well. But if you're talking to someone who you know nothing about, or don't even know what they look like, that's different.

      Really ? maybe because i think it would be fun to have new friends like that, but it turns out, i can't make any friends like that :(

        Why don't you just become friends with your friends' friends?

        I'm the opposite - I'm so bloody selective, I turn people away or ignore them.

        Anyway, those aren't 'real' friendships!
        I think you are very lucky to have 10 close friends. It's said if you find one true friend in your lifetime you are very lucky.
