Is it normal that i can't get over my crush?

So about few months ago..I pulled myself together, and told my crush that I liked him, the next day I got a response from him saying: "Hey, well it's cool that you like me, thanks for your honesty, gotta go see some day." And that's it! All this time I can't stop thinking of him still, even tho that he doesn't like me back.. Then last month he wrote to me again: "Hi What's up? How are you?" And so on..
My friends are trying to make forget him, but I simply can't.. Seriously it's killing me slowly and painfully.. HOW DO I GET OVER HIM ....help me

    How you know he doesnt like you back? Didnt he say "goota go see you some day?"

    Maybe he's just trying to play it cool?

    There is no specific way of getting over him... Like it could be months or it could be years... I took like 2/3 years to get over a girl, like its just time... You gotta be patient with yourself... Give yourself time to heal up, the bigger the crush, the longer it'll take.
