Is it normal that i can't decide if i'm pretty or not?

Sometimes when I look in the mirror I feel really self-confident. I find things about my appearance that I find attractive and I feel like I'm at least of average appearance. Other times, I feel completely ugly, and like there is nothing attractive or likable about me. On top of that, I sometimes go back and forth between these extremes in the space of a few minutes. Is it normal that I can't decide whether or not I am attractive?

It doesn't matter that much, you know.

It's normal to me. I feel the same way. I think it's the angle you view yourself from

Same, expect for me, it's usually the difference of days/weeks. I'll feel like Emma Watson one week, and then Howard Stern the next. My indecision doesn't help either.

But I think it's just insecurities. Even though looks aren't such a huge deal, we tend to make it so.

  • I'm the same. Regardless of how many compliments I get and how many people show "interest" in me, I'll look in the mirror and think I look amazing and then soon after think I look terrible.

I think we both need to work on our insecurities. ^_^

I have the same issue. Sometimes, I refuse to look at myself in certain mirrors or through certain types of camera lenses, because I know that I'll look uglier in them than in another reflective surface. I also have a thing for entering into public restrooms, just so I can see how I look in their mirrors.

Of course, reading your question again, I'm taking away a different meaning. Are you changing the lighting/looking at different mirrors/surfaces, or is this the same mirror, with the same lighting/time of day? It could be some sort of psychiatric problem, but I don't have the authority or info necessary for a diagnosis. I noticed that I had this problem a lot worse when I was a teenager.

Do you think that maybe the clothes you're wearing could be influencing this?
