Is it normal that i can't be creative with my art??

I really want to! I like to sketch, but I can only sketch things to look exactly like something else. I can't create anything of my own. When I have a picture or object in front of me, I can sketch and it will look almost exactly like it only bigger or smaller. But when I want to draw something that comes from me, I can't do it. It seriously looks like a 4 year old did it. It's never what I pictured and I just can't seem to do it. I can get a bunch of pictures and objects then use those to sketch up some collage or something, but I can never just picture something then do it with out a physical object in front of me. I can't even add my own creations to the objects I'm using as models. Does this happen to anyone else? And is it normal?

    this is very normal
I believe to be an artist is to crreate something of nothing and art isnt easy it is a gift and a craft and one must perfect it and work on it perhaps if you keep working on how to make your vision a reality one day you will just do it

    art takes time
    years
    decades
thats why its art....my opinion lol

I want to too. I'll see beautiful artworks in my head, but I can never excute it on paper. I have a slightly easier time doing it on my computer.

Same here. The art I put on paper almost never looks like the way it did when I pictured it in my head. Sometimes it turns out better, but most of the time it's worse.

    Very normal.

Work with a particular object, it doesn't matter what. Look at it and sketch it repeatedly, from different angles. Then later try to draw it from memory. Keep working on the same object. You think, yeah, big deal, now I can draw a coffee mug from memory. But it is a big deal, because you've trained your mind. From there, it's a lot easier to advance to other mental images.

I had that issue too , thier is is creativity, skill , talent ,and imagination . just becuase you are skilled and talented does not mean you have the matching skills or creativity or imagination or that you can nescarly incorporate it , your proboly a realistic drawer or you have a more realistic mind set so you use a diffrent part your brain and its a diffrent art style .

i get that some times, it happens when i spend too much time looking at other peoples stuff. when i whant to get realy creative (like when i have some commisions) i abstinent my self for a cupple of days from other peoples drawings and creations.
it works in a similar way when i whan't to right music.

thing about it, how can you create something new when you know what allready exists?

mabe to exersise your self souk up some other peoples skeches and photos then try to create something by combining their ideas or improuve them.
look at things from different angles, re draw them a few times.
what sort of things do you draw?

Normal. Feel it, feel the art. Don't try to force what you're doing, just enjoy it. Keep practicing and playing around, and eventually you'll find a niche all your own.
