Is it normal that i can replay any song i hear on guitar perfectly?

Earlier tonight I was at a party with my guitar. People would ask me to play songs and I would play one of the hundreds of songs I'm familiar with that they would request. How am I able to remember so many chords and lyrics without exploding! And how is it possible that when I hear a song, I can imagine the notes in my head and where they would be on the instrument replaying perfectly? I've been playing music for about 6 years now with only 3 years of trombone lessons. I have also taught my self to play bass, piano, drums, harmonica, and I sing.

I also learn by ear (Tabs for tough stuff) and I have memorized probably like 60% of the the songs I have ever learned, I played a song yesterday that I hadn't played in more than a year and remembered most of it. Guitar has a lot more to do with muscle memory and your subconscious than you conscious might realize. It also helps to just improvise the solos.

Yes, totally normal. I've been playing the drums, guitar, bass, cello and piano for 17 years and I can't read music. I can only guitar, uke and drum tabs. I play everything by ear. I feel it has connected music with my soul a lot stronger since I have to literally feel it and hear it to play. Give me any song and I'll play it for you in 5 minutes. I can play the uke and even a didgeridoo too! :)

That's is what I can do! I picked up the uke and I played the didgeridoo for my school choir show. It's good to know that there are more people like me. Thank you for sharing your gift!

I write music all the time, but with just chord letters. But since it's just me and thanks to computer software, no one else has to try and understand the chicken scratch on a piece of mail that is actually music lol! I have music going through my head all the time. I can make up pieces of music piece by piece and hear it all at once in my mind. When I put it into a computer it's as beautiful as I imagined it. I get really frustrated that I can't just write it down on a blank music sheet.

You should invent the Trom-Tar or the Git-Bone and be a one-man band.
