Is it normal that i can produce breast milk when i haven't had a baby?

I'm female and 20 years old.
I have never had a baby and I am deffinatly not pregnant.
I produce breat milk, not just every known and again, everyday and a fair bit.
This has been happening for about 3-4 months now.

Is this normal?

It's called hyperprolactanemia. See your doctor.

  • This can be caused by antidepressants. I have that too since about 5 years.

Are you on an antipsychotic such as Risperidone? I'm on that drug and it has caused me to lactate even though I've never had a baby (or even had sex for that matter).

i would get a pregnancy test to be sure. but i have heard of adoptive parents who used alot of nipple stimulation and even breast pumps to make themselfs produce milk for their adopted infants. they usualy dont get a very large supply but it can be a significant ammount. i would say its normal.

It could be an indication of one or more serious health problem, such an adenoma on the pituitary gland (on the underside of the brain, MEN-1, or even a thyroid problem.

Something must be wrong. I think you should see a doctor about this.
