Is it normal that i can change brightness of dark rooms with my eyes?

So whenever I stare at a point in my room an concentrate, out of my peripheral vision things that are lit up will become pitch black and I can keep concentrating until everything is this way. I can't seem to do it when the main light is on but I can with small lights like nigh lights and stuff.

It's called tunnel vision. You're not special, everyone can do it.

    Normal.
Rods and cones in the eyes become over stimulated when you force your eyes to stop their micro-movements.
