Is it normal that i can’t respond to mind games?

Many times I’m talking to a girl I’m interested, I tend to encounter tricky questions that she throws out to get some kick out of me. For example, I tell her she has a colorful dress or eyes and she’s like “You probably say that to every girl”. I usually respond, “no, it’s just for you”. And then the conversation dies down sooner or later.

Also, for other girls, I text her and she replies after 8 hours, which prompts me to send another text. Because when I’m asking her out and I need her approval for the date I will come off as desperate because I have to text again due to that game she plays.

I’m not a naturally playful person and I give direct answers to stuff. Girls tend to banter a lot and it doesn’t come natural for me. And before anyone says “guys do the same thing”, I know some do, but I’m not one of them because I’m intentional in conversations. Should I try looking for a different type of girl

    I think knowing the age of OP and the ladies in question would help.

    I think most the time, ladies who respond like that are probably digging for more compliments. It's common.

    I think you two might not be so good a match if this is the case.

    If she’s more of a playful person socially and that’s not your groove then eventually she may become self conscious about how she talks. This can lead to her pretending to be more ‘serious’, which isn’t good for her and now leaves you with a non genuine gal.

    Neither of you are in the wrong, but just might not be compatible personality-wise.
    But! This is a big statement for me to make on a relationship I know so little about, so take it with a grain of salt.

    My gf is more intentional than I am in conversation. She says I speak in riddles, drawn out metaphors, and use a lot of ‘colorful’ vocabulary, but it’s something that she likes about me which is the difference
