Is it normal that i came into contact with blood and i am scared?

I bought a candle and when I went to light it I noticed a bit of dark red (it was a red candle so it was hard to see). I stupidly stuck the tip of my finger on it and it was wet and looked like blood. I have no idea who's blood, but not mine. I immediately washed my hands and then disinfected with hand sanitizer. I didn't have a cut on the finger I touched it with but I do have a scrape on the knuckle of my thumb. I grabbed some tissue to wipe up the rest and sure enough it looked like dark blood on the tissue as well. I'm also worried as to why someone would drip blood into a candle but I did see a piece of broken glass in the holder as well.

Should I be worried, and is it normal to be worried about things like hep c and aids in this case scenario?

polysporin or some antiseptic should do the trick, I wouldn't worry too much. Perhaps it was red candle wax, but if it's blood then so long as it didn't enter a wound, you should be ok.

I was an IV drug user, i have shared needles on several occasions, even once with someone who HAD HEP C. What im trying to say is...it is not nearly as easy to get hep as they make it seem. yah i am a lucky dude to have a clean blood test come back after years of sharing needles, spoons, filters, etc. SO unless you have HEP blood, that is less than a week old somehow get into an open wound you have the chances of getting it are slim to none.

this experience is quite normal... I experienced this when I stretched my back at the chair as far as I can.. so the spinal chord is connected to the brain and all our senses... and with my stretching... I temporarily blocked my senses... my vision and hearing and even my sensory nerves... after I stretched... I fainted on the floor with my forehead hitting the ground first... and I injured my self without even knowing... I don't even know how I fainted to the ground... my brother saw me and said that after the stretching.. i have fainted and my whole body and limbs shaking... when I regain consciousness I felt my body shaking and my senses are getting back together slowly... i woke up with bruises in my legs and my forehead...and I didn't feel any pain... I just felt it when I'm already awake... It's like a nightmare while you are awake... I hated this feeling... when I woke up... my visions are blurred... and I slowly get back to my feet... knowing that I am lying on the floor shaking..., I just shared this experience cause it occurred midnight.. November 9, 2012 1:00 A.M.... hope it helped you guys...,

    Well.... you already sanitized it.

I'm of a mindset that it could have been the wax but you're positive it was blood so... Ask yourself how many people had access to this candle.

But to be honest, I wouldn't worry about it much myself.

HIV can live within blood outside the body... ONLY if the blood is allowed to remain moist. However, even if an infected person bled immediately before you touched it, the HIV would still have to get INSIDE your body... and that's not likely to happen on the finger you got it on.

You could get tested to put your mind at ease but with HIV you won't know right away because it takes time from infection to it being able to be detected through a test, that being said I wouldn't worry about it because you had no wound. Relax and carry it's just one of those things

The only thing I can suggest is to go get tested. I think you are probably okay, though, but if it really concerns you, you should definatly get it checked out.
