Is it normal that i believe there should be a global adoption law?

Before you get angry at me, hear me out: I believe that there should be a law that makes you adopt the same amount of children(From Foster Care and Orphanages, mind you) depending on the number of biological kids you have. Example: If you have 2 birthchildren you must adopt 2 kids. To propose this law, Goverments worldwide provide greater income, larger vehicles, and larger homes to support these families. Anyone who doesn't adopt has their finiacial support and tax breaks cut off completely (If people are that adamant about not adopting, then their birthkids will be temporarily confiscated) until they adopt. It's true that people should be able to have birthchildren but there's also children out there that need parents and homes. No child should ever age out of FC/Orphanages because everyone deserves loving parents (Even Single loving parents will do). If this law is ever enforced (Hopefully), people will still be able to have as many kids as they want and alot more already existing children get homes and parents. I believe that a global adoption law is both a reasonable and "everyone-wins" kind of deal. I propose this because it's more realistic and humane than a 1-child or 2-child policy.

"To propose this law, Goverments worldwide provide greater income, larger vehicles, and larger homes to support these families."

    Yeah, totally realistic and practical.

"Anyone who doesn't adopt has their birthchildren temporarily confiscated by the Gov't until they adopt."

Good, punish and traumatise these kids for no good reason.

You didn't stay gone long, again. Welcome back, I guess.

      This person is a genius.

I like how they don't mention the scumbags that have 50+ kids only to leave them in an orphanage.

No punishment for the real offenders.

  • People who believe in granting sweeping governmental powers often either forget, or neglect the fact that governments are made up of people as fallible as you or me. The bigger the governmental power, and the bigger the collective group of people that you give them rule over, the more corrupt they're likely to become.

A worldwide mandate on adoption, granting powers over the very foundation of the human condition...the nuclear family, is quite possibly the biggest setup for disaster I could imagine. Especially if the law demands taking children into a home that doesn't want them.

I understand your premise; it would be really nice if the world would control it's own population while giving homes to unwanted children, but forcing them into homes that don't want them opens up a proverbial Pandora's box of pending disasters.

You can't force people to love.

Then that would mean forcing a lot of children on people. That wouldn't be good for the family or the kid. They're better off with an agency then being in an unloving family.

How about this, you can have two kids, but your third has to be adopted. Therefore people have a choice whether they adopt or not, and some are still going to want 3 kids, or to adopt.

This idea is very impractical. Is this post a joke?

So let's say I have 3 kids and want 4, but something went wrong during the 3rds birth and I can't give birth to a 4th. So I want to adopt a child. Why should I be forced to adopt 3 children at least? I get where you're coming from, but forcing kids on people will make people not want to adopt, and therefor leave more kids without a home.

Perhaps not a bad idea, but honestly we don't have a world that can agree on anything as simple as just seeing all the children have enough food to survive.

Fuck no. This is such a stupid law. And how would we pay for all those children if every time we have a biological child we have to adopt a child? In the US our jobs are being outsourced at a disgusting rate to third world countries. Also adoptions costs a lot of money. Who would pay for them? I dont owe it to anybody to adopt a child and no birth mother owes anybody their own flesh and blood.

I think you're seriously overestimating how many kids there are in foster care and orphanages.

Quick google search numbers: 170 million children orphaned. 2.2 billion children total.

For your plan to work out, there would need to be a full 1.1 billion orphaned children.

Your proposition is really nice. But what some people don't seem to get is, there is nothing wrong with not wanting to adopt. I have considered adopting children, and probably will do again in the suitable future, but my opinion now is that I don't want to adopt. Not wanting to adopt a child doesn't make you a wholly evil, selfish person.
It is extremely sad that some people have children only to have them end up abused in some way or another. In an ideal world we would do something about it. But life isn't fair. Everyone is born at different stages of advantages sadly.
