Is it normal that i believe that some dreams are real?

I believe that some dreams are real and have genuine meaning especially those that occur frequently. Is my belief normal?

Real as in they have high symbolic value and personal meaning? If so I agree wholeheartedly.

    • I was thinking real in the case where they're true and genuinely account for something. That whatever's going on in the dream(s), the thing or person is there even though the thing or person is not with you.

“Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.”

An illusion by definition is "an instance of a wrong or misinterpreted perception of a sensory experience."

Reality by definition is "the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them".

So by declaring that reality is an illusion, Einstein is saying that 'the state of things as they actually exist is false'. Which is to say that what is true is false - which is a contradiction.

I'm not sure I quite get what Einstein meant by that one...

ALL dreams, not 'some', are real.

They are produced in the subconscious brain, through an interaction of electrons with neurons.

This does not necessarily mean, nor does it imply, that the thoughts, ideas or concepts within dreams are real.

Dreams are just from thoughts that you were thinking right before you fell asleep.

They can sometimes highlight what's on your mind, your emotional state, fears or desires. No more so than simply considering your state when conscious, asking "How am I feeling? What am I concerned about? What do I want?"

I don't believe dreams are premonitions, spiritual messages, your subconscious illuminating something your conscious mind is incapable of realising or some symbolic puzzle with a hidden meaning.

I think this is normal. Dreams can carry a lot of meaning. I think our subconscious tries to tell us things in our dreams that when we're awake we might not pay much attention to. Our dreams can bring a lot of things into light.

In the sense that Ethereal-Silence described -- symbolic value and personal meaning -- then yes, dreams certainly have an impact on your life. You can learn a lot from your dreams.

Believing that they're real accounts of something such as astral travel or visitations, though...well, as the skeptics say, "Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary proof." Those beliefs might be comforting if you're far away from someone and dream of them being with you, but I think it's a mistake to conflate wanting and wishing with reality.

      Archaic confusion.

Please do not use the Archaic term, or any other euphemized form thereof, relating to a fictitious nether world.

      Thank you.
