Is it normal that i believe in mind reading?

Before I sound like I'm way out of line, I am your average person that you would see at the store buying my groceries. I work, I play and I'm straight and there is not much more to say because my life isn't too interesting, BUT coming from a one month admittance at a mental hospital I've picked up on people's reactions (especially psychiatric nurses and doctors), including body language and facial expressions. Usually when I think of a word their response is in tune with my thought process. It could be my positive or negative vibes I'm giving off and I know some are sensitive to those energies.
For instance in a small room with about 10 other people the moment is tense since everybody in there, except for the guy speaking, has some sort of mental disorder. The councilor is reading everybody and in correlation he's following up to everyone's feelings telling us what he knows (anybody who's done this sort of counseling would probably know what I'm talking about). I was thinking "Let's test this guy" as he was talking. Boom when this word pops into my head he outright said the same one, twice and looked directly at me.
Also, a patient I got to know a little bit had really black eyes or just large pupils and at the very moment I thought of his darkened eyeballs he mentioned something about the Black Eyed Peas.
I know people can jump into your mind, it must be a sixth sense. Somebody randomly picking up on my radiating thoughts has happened more than just those two occasions in and outside of the institution. I thought maybe it's my personality type since I may be melancholy. After about the third time I was really paranoid about it and dreaded waking up in the morning. Now I don't really give a damn.
Yes I have used or abused recreational drugs.
So IS telepathy normal OR is there something I don't know yet?

    Probably is cold reading/knowing people.

Speaking as someone with no non-verbal communication(eternal smile, doesn't reflect inner state): the so called mind readers never get me, they always miss or just come out and say they have no clue. Now guess what: that is the same thing psychology/pedagoge people say to me. And I so do give them a fair chance, thinking of things everyone knows like a table.

To be honest I think most humans are dumbed down by the lack of understanding of math, physics, logic and most importantly chance.

Also I think emotions, social 'pressure', ethics, morals and blind respect for autority aren't helping either.

Last but not least humans seem to invent their own explainations to things they do not understand.

There's this great 'mentalist' going around showing the logic and tricks behind the things he and other people do. (Using psychology, math and logic.)

Ok. I get what's going on here. You really do have some level of psychic abilities but you probably got a bit carried away with the idea that you have some type of "strange powers" which is why the shrinks decided to put you in the asylum for a month. If this was what got you put in the institution, you aren't schizophrenic or otherwise seriously disturbed. However, although you absolutely do have psychic abilities on some level, don't get too carried away with the fact that you singularly are someone with superhuman abilities because in fact everyone has psychic abilities. Your focusing on the abilities and possibly use of drugs made you more telepathically attuned. A lot of times psychics get put into mental hospitals because doctors think they're psychotic or delusional when this is not the case at all. It unfortunately happens all the time because doctors refuse to believe that psychic abilities are in fact real and I have had telepathic experiences myself so I can attest to the fact that telepathy does exist. Further proof of this is that whenever you talk to people about the idea of everyone being psychic, it is often well received because this is imprinted in the collective unconscious. Telepathy has been confirmed by numerous studies

Perhaps people want to do more research on what the human mind is capable of. For example, a study was done in which a sample group was given one new crossword every day to monitor their ability. Then, they were given an old crossword, one that had been answered by so many people already... And their scores went up dramatically, as though it was easier to find the answers out there.

This is but one of many occurrences leading researchers to speculate on the idea of collective consciousness... That's where our instincts come from after all.

Thus it's not a matter of a person having special ability, but rather the theory that there's some network out there linking us consciously as a race, aiding our evolution. I don't know how far any of this is from being ascertained, but it's fascinating stuff.

No. I do not think your schizophrenic. I'm sorry that person made such a comment. I think you are just really keyed in to what people are thinking. I don't know if its mind reading or not. But maybe you just have a way about you that can tell what people will say by their body language and by other things they have said.

It is perfectly normal to be in tune with some people. My husband can't stand being in a room with my family coz he says that not one of us ever finishes a sentence to each other, and he can't follow the logic.

    Here's an example...
    "Did you hear about...?"
    "I did, what a laugh."
    "Did you tell ..."
"Oh yes, she couldn't believe it."
    "what did she say?"
"She said she had to visit them."
    "Never!"
"Oh yes, I couldn't stop laughing."
    "That's so funny!"

He's like "WTF? I'll make coffee."

My cousin is very close to me and her son is 4 months older than mine. She rang me one time to say she bought a baby sponge but it wasn't very soft. I said, I know coz I bought the same one today. She lives about 25 miles away from me.

It's normal to believe in it, seeing as a lot of people do...now, does mind reading exist? Not at all. At least, nobody in the history of ever has presented convincing evidence for it.

60% Normal? Are you kidding me? My faith in humanity has been destroyed by one, small, ridiculous IIN. Telepathy is clearly biggest pile of toss ever. Any rational thing person can see that it is completely illogical.

Have you ever heard of Cold Reading? I'm not sure of the exact technique, but it involves dropping subtle verbal and physical clues, which lead people to say what you want them too say. Some theories suggest that people who believe they are telepathic are simply using these techniques by accident, just as their default method of conversation. I suggest reading up on it.

    Also, you may have schitzophrenia.
