I just don't really enjoy being without others, and when I am alone I have a much better time then withe others, being as I am not obligated to "play by their rules" and just flat out don't like others.
I don't believe you should go by what society deems normal,so by all means continue on.
You don't enjoy being without others or you do? I'm happy on my own I have a couple of friends who I go out with but not many, I like my own company..

When it comes to spending time with others I can relate to what you say about, "play by their rules." I remember being a little girl and being kinda shy but preferring to play with boys or alone because as soon as most girls bring you into their fold they want to teach you to "play by their rules" so often times it's better to be alone. I was very prissy in appearance and always dolled up in pretty dresses but I was silly and had a potty mouth. I hated the way other girls wanted to borrow my clothes, try on my shoes or play with my long reddish brown hair. Those kinda girls gave me the creeps... Yuck! I was much happier going home with my bratty sister. We would play Barbies and play with our two dogs. Or I could just read alone in my room. I could listen to records and dance. Other little girls always wanted to touch my stuff, talk about their feelings and ask me personal questions. It's weird, but now at 43, I'm grateful for how sheltering and strict my parents were. I'm getting progressively more introverted again as I get older; getting in touch with the child inside me. She's pretty cool with all her dinosaur books playing with bugs in the garden.
If you feel happier alone then be alone. No sense in forcing yourself to be around others if you don't enjoy it.
