Is it normal that i am underweight but i have diabetes?

After a glucose test, I've only just been diagnosed with diabetes and I don't know much about the disease. I noticed that I should get myself checked after I started getting really tired if I didn't eat every few hours and the disease runs in my family. Thing is, I've always considered myself healthy, I exercise and eat well and am underweight but not too underweght. Only by a kilo or so. Another thing I'm concerned about is if I will gain weight after I get the diabetes treated? I know I'll have to get it treated but putting on weight will suck a bit :/
Thanks a lot everyone.

It depends on whether we are talking about type 1 or 2 diabetes. With type 2 basically your body will not release the correct amount of insulin in response to eating certain carbohydrates, now the problem with this is we need insulin to store glucose in the liver and muscles in the form of glycogen and it also helps regulate a healthy blood glucose level. In respect to gaining weight actually high insulin levels can make a person overweight because insulin promotes the storage of free fatty acids in adipose tissue, as well the exact opposite effect of having low insulin and high glucagon levels actually promotes the breakdown of adipose tissue into free fatty acids which can then be used as energy.

If we are talking about you having type 1 diabetes which is the genetic type, it is bascially an autoimmune disease where your body has destroyed the beta cells in the pancreas, specifically an area called the islet of langerhans. Without beta cells your body cannot produce any insulin which means that both hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia will be problems you may experience throughout the day without the correct treatment.

Hello, it is actually very easy to make someone diabetic and not overweight : you feed him allot of fat and oils and ask him to do enough sport not to gain weight. Fat from meat (fish, chicken also) and oils from nuts and grains (olive, coconut, sesame, canola, sunflower, etc... basically any) will give you sludge blood. It is because the fat needs to be transported. Sludge blood prevents sugar from acting as a key to make sugar go into cells. You end up with fat in the cells and fatty deposits inside your arteries (this is the cause for Cardiovascular disease, strokes, impotence and so on). So if you want to cure your diabetes it is easy : remove fat oils and nuts from your diet. Keep on eating carbs (starches, potatoes, whole grains...) as your body cleans out the fat that is hanging around in your cells, blood and on the walls of your arteries, the sugar will be dealt with more and more efficiently. Also eating veggies and greens and fruits will help. Medecine doesn't want people to know this and thinks that pills are the solution as people cannot make changes in their diet. This is the only way to actually reverse diabetes in less than a few weeks in a safe and healthy maner, and you will improve your mood, energy, and health in the future. You can check your blood glucose again after two three weeks of this low oils low fat regime and you will be amaized. You will also notice that your cholesterol will drop sharply to the real level it should have : total cholesterol < 150 and Ldl < 70. If it is not quite there after two weeks no worries it will keep improving. Enjoy a diabetes free life. If you doubt this comment, look into Dr Esselstyn's work, Dr Dean Ornish, Dr Mc Dougall. They are the trailblazer of the new medecine movement. Check at the Pcrm website also. You can watch forks over knifes, earthlings and all the rest to remove your doubts concerning the need for meat dairy butter and oils.

I'm talking about Type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is likely to be an auto-immune disease caused by molecular mimickery that may originate from a leaky gut and the consumption of animal protein, dairy and possibly some industrial crap.
