Is it normal that i am this close to my best friend?

Ok so my best friend and I have the same birthday. We are really IDENTICAL! we became friends when i changed school and it started when we noticed our similarities (same likes disslikes, we think and say the same things at the same time) and we became really close, SISTER LIKE. We IM all the time and talk on the phone. A month ago she was crying at school because of a fight with some other friends and i huggd her and held her hand out of "dont worry im here!" and now we sort of hold hands when we need each other or so..and a week ago we were sleeping over at her place and we cuddled and hugged on the couch and in bed, with these little kisses on the cheek and forehead, but not on the lips. we hugged all night! it felt really comfy but we both agreed it was wierd. yesterday she was at my place and we were home alone and we did it again!
It's getting really confusing. Of course no one knows about it. But at school they keep teasing us and calling us the smart couple because we are really close and together all the time. We are both straight, have always liked boys but it happens that we never had boyfriends. can this be why we tend to get this physical? or is it just a normal girl girl friendship?

    I think it's normal because maybe with this behavior you're trying somehow to compensate the lack of boyfriends in your lifes. And between friends this things happen hugging and holding hands. But be careful not to make things take a bad way that would maybe affect negatively on your friendship. Good luck!

    You could be just so comfortable in your friendship that you're okay with being physically intimate with one another. This happens between best friends a lot, especially ones who are comfortable in their sexuality. Sometimes it's nice to just be physically close to someone without any kind of romantic attachment. We as humans have an internal desire for touch and human intimacy that doesn't require romantic or sexual intimacy to be fulfilled. So don't think it's weird, and if it makes you both happy then keep on being adorable. :)
