Is it normal that i am the token heterosexual in a gay group?

So, because of a weird turn of events, I ended up living with a homosexual. He is my best friend and roommate, and came out a year ago. I did my best to accept him and make him feel comfortable. I even befriended many of his gay friends.

However, for other reasons, I lost most of my other friends recently, so pretty much my only social group right now is the one with the gay friends of my roommate.

I like these guys... but some things are really unsettling to me. Whenever we meet other people, they always present me as the "hetero"; as if it was a prize or something to have a heterosexual friend. I notice that they pamper me a lot as well... I feel kind of like their pet.

So... is this kind of thing normal? (answers from gays are appreciated)

    You're cool! I bet there aren't a lot of hetero men who would be as comfortable as you are in a room full of homosexual men. You might be a novel experience for them.

    You are obviously one confident man... which is super sexy to women! You are in a lucky situation with these guys as your friends. Don't let it make you feel uncomfortable, but if it's still an issue for you, tactfully bring it up with your best friend.

    We gays get excited about being around other gays sometimes- like a peacock showing off. Its harmless! It should be taken as a complinent, I assure you.

    If you are having a good time being the "token straight" then what's the problem? Chances are you'll meet an incredible woman in this circle that isn't gay and you'll be the only straight guy available. Your odds will be pretty good then, don't you think?

          That is not really true. A lot of straight women seem to have a thing for straight men and often will try to turn a gay man straight. Rather than go for a straight man since being straight is less attractive. Go figure though.

    The only gay friends that I ever had were lesbians actually. Being a straight guy looking in from the outside, the lesbian culture is really odd. At least the group that I hung out with was very "different." My old roommate was raised by two moms as that is how I fell into their little group.

    I don't think it's weird. I hang out in lots of unusual groups that I don't quite fit in. When you know somebody they often will have a group that are similar.
