Is it normal that i am never satisfied with my music?

Is it normal that I am never satisfied with the music my band and I play? My band has been together for only about a year and a half now, and I know we aren't anything amazing, it's just fun. Recently we just studio recorded our first song, and I am not happy with it. I am never completely satisfied with ANY of the recordings my band makes of our own songs. I also am picky about our covers as well. I mean, I think it sounds good, but I always can pick out something that I would like to have changed. I'm not a perfectionist at all, but when it comes to music, I feel like I can always do better. So is this normal?

everyone in the band has different taste, slightly, so its kinda inevitable for someone to be unhappy with what their playing.Always put in your suggestions tho:p I'm the drummer in my band and the way we write songs is by me playing a beat and the guitarist coming up with a suitable riff. The only way to be a good musician really is to be precise and picky i guess so that you do keep improving.

  • I'm like that with drawing and art and stuff. i just care a lot about it so it kind of becomes an obsession. so i think its normal. but anyway like others have said something are better with mistakes and could make them more interesting.

Yes, it's normal because you're a true artist. All true artists want to do their best and aren't satisfied until their work is at its best. That's what my teacher told me about how I freak about my writing. I bet he'd say the same about your music because to me you sound like someone dedicated to your passion.

    Yes. And you shouldn't.

It doesn't matter so much how you feel about them, but how your fans feel about them!

A true artist just grabs a guitar and comes up with a full song that barely needs any other work. If you haven't got it in you there is little use in trying over and over or perfectioning anything. The song is still gonna suck.

Well, people tell me that my songs are good, but I mean, there is usually something I would like to change about it. It may not be the song itself, sometimes, it's just the way I had currently played it. Like, say I played a live show. I could always pull out something that I would like to change. But thank you for your input. It's appreciated to see everyone's perspective.
