Is it normal that i am gay but deny it to others?

This thought has been going through my head for a long time. i'm sure that im gay, but i dont like to tell others that i am. i started with chatrooms. all of the regular chatrooms seem to be full of assholes. so, i decided to try a gay chatroom, and instantly, i made freinds with almost everyone within the first day or two! we would also roleplay in these chatrooms, and, they turned me on, and i was blushing when there was a romantic part beetween me and another guy. but, i havent told anyone about these. i think i havent told because im a little scared to. i would really like to know if others have had the same problem and what they did to resolve it in the comments. voters, please vote if it is normal that i hide my homosexuality.

no, lots of people do that. One of the funny things I've noticed is that most people who know you probably have discussions - if not arguments - when you're not around of course, as to whether you're gay or not. Denying it doesn't help any. I think that if you're into men (assuming your a male) then go for it. There is a generation of people who will never accept it but you cannot let that stop you. Be true to yourself and your friends, that's a good place to start.

  • It's fine as long as you don't go after any of your friends if you know they're straight, because that would cause problems

Normal, but you should really be honest with people. Just come out of the closet. You'll feel so much better, trust me. :)

It's normal but it shouldn't be, you shouldn't have to feel like you should hide it. I hope one day you're able to tell people.

A lot of people who are gay do that, it's called "denial". It's supposedly really common

Allot of people do that. I'm bisexual and I'm scared to officially cone out. I'm open about it on here and only a few of my friends know, but elsewhere I'll either avoid the question or lie about it. You should only come out when you feel comfortable. There should be no rush.

Yeah it's so normal! I'm 21 years old (girl) and I have known I was bi since I was like 13. I liked girls even more than guys but I was too afraid to tell anyone. Finally just this past semester I decided to be open about it and just tell people the truth. There is no point in hiding who you are!

It's perfectly normal to be ashamed and secretive about your sexuality. I remember when I was younger pretending to be homophobic so that nobody would think I was gay. But there comes a time when you realize it's okay to come out and you find yourself not being ashamed anymore. Best of luck. You'll know when the time comes. It's so much better being out of the closet.

It's normal in this society. What age group are you in? There comes a point where denial just hurts you, but if you live with your parents or something, there's nothing wrong with waiting a little bit if you don't feel ready.

You should tell people so you can meet other gays and get a bf honey..... Did I mention that I'm gay ;)

Sadly, it is all too normal. Finding the right friends will help. People that turn against you because of your sexual orientation were never "real" friends to begin, whether in a chat room or real life.

It's normal that you feel a bit embarassed about admitting it or whatever, but its also normal to be gay, so dont try to hide it. You'll feel a lot better once you share it with at least one person. A problem shared is a problem halved. :)

Don't be a slave to other peoples' insecurities. Just be yourself and if people don't accept you for doing so forget about them.

U should be proud of who you are!!!! And u shouldn't have to hide your sexuality because other people are ignorant. Embrace who you are, you will be happier for it!!
