Is it normal that i am ashamed to wear flip flops or sandals to work?

I find it impossible to wear flip flops to work or any open feet or open toed foot wear. I feel ashamed and defeated and don't have the strength to do so..
Is it normal? Also one big toenail or mine is cracked..

I can't wear flip flops to work for safety reason. Plus I hate the flapping sounds it makes and it's hard to walk faster or run in then

Yes! Maybe I'm just sensitive but I absolutely for the life of me cannot stand the dragging flapping sound flip flops make! Whenever I'm at work and I hear flip flops coming my way I have to try my hardest to tune that sound out, I hate it.

If the job cause for formal attire, don't. Even with semi-formal it might not be a good idea.

My toenails, the big ones especially, are not pure creatures. The mere sight of them would probably destroy life as we know it. That being said, they are usually covered. Chances are that if you think they look Kmart, you probably shouldn't show them.

You clearly want to wear your flip flops and show them. You can go see a podiatrist. There may be something that they can do for your nails. There's also a cultural form of dressing that they use in Japan. It's to wear special socks with sandals.
