Is it normal that i am afraid i won't go to heaven

I believe in God, but lately I have not felt close to God. I have trouble praying and I wonder if I died if I would even go to heaven. Is it normal to feel this way?

God would not want us to waste the gift of life worrying about what is going to happen to us when we are dead. The key is to live life to the fullest just in case when you're dead...that's it. We might have an afterlife, but nobody really knows what that is. Be a good person, be helpful, kind, and enjoy the earth and the things it offers. You can ponder the meaning of it all while drinking an ice tea from time to time, but don't let it worry you.

To answer the actual question, I think it's normal to feel that way. And I'm not trying to agree or disagree with anyone else, this is just my opinion.

Anyway, I'm somewhat religious because I grew up with a Catholic mom and a Christian dad; however, I'm very open minded and like to listen to other peoples opinions when it comes to religion. I can't say I believe in the Bible and religion itself, but I do believe in a God and yes I get that feeling that I'm getting distant with God. I don't have trouble praying, but my only advice to that is "Gratitude". Remember to be thankful for everything. It helps me and I hope it can do the same for you [:

A person's faith and relationship with God is deeper than superficial feelings. Just because you don't feel close to God or maybe don't feel anything when you try to pray doesn't mean there's anything wrong with your faith or the way you live. If you endure in your faith and continue to pray despite not 'feeling' anything, and if you sincerely seek to do God's will by following your conscience (and truly repent and trust in his infinite mercy when you don't), then you're on the right track. Just think of human relationships such as marriage. At the beginning there is a lot of exciting romantic feelings, etc. but over time things settle down and something deeper and richer comes about that's based on a stable and mature loving commitment. The quieter, later stage is actually the 'normal' part. So if you keep on quietly and simply believing and praying even though you don't necessarily have a lot of 'spiritual feelings', then that's much, much more normal than experiencing intense and possibly destabilizing religious feelings.

  • There is no god. There is no heaven. get over it. after you die Your brain stay alive for 2 minutes, and what do you think he does in that 2 minutes? erase all your memories so you wont even know you have ever existed.

I believe in God and as well I dont feel to close. I think you shouldnt be worried, what matters is if you are a good person. I you try to be good to people and follow the "good" things in life you'll be fine. Not because you dont go to church you dont get to go to heaven. I doesnt work that way. So be happy, stay good and dont worry

  • it's normal, but it's not bad. Everybody goes back and forth, and if you aren't where you want to be spiritually right now, no biggie. God's the only one who knows who's saved and who's not, so technically you wouldn't know if you were or not.

someone made / invented this universe and all its laws / physics etc .... that person , thing is called god ...... you cant help but see him in the details and beauty of this universe ... there is ofcourse a god ... and if you dont feel close to him its because you drifted away ... you feel distand to him ,,, just like a man and woman who dont smend time or apprecaite eachother ... they drift in ways .... i would suggest you talk to him ,,, go for a walk a few times a week just for that purpose ... bring a jug of warm coffee and sit and think , reflect on his creation ... and talk to him ,, ask things ... share things ... and you will feel much closer very fast ... good luck to you

idk if it's normal and i dont think people do think about stuff like that a lot but i know i certaintly do. i do know theres a god and i was going through this weird jesus phase a few monthes ago where i tried to give myself up to him and get saved. a lot of times i wonder if i really am saved, if everyone will be, and worry that me or my family will end up in hell, which i hope nobody ends up in that horrible place and i also think about heaven a lot

If I were a god, I wouldn't give a bleep about whether people believe in me or not. Being god, you don't need anyone to believe in you because, hey, you're god. Actually, if people would spend lots of time praying to me, it would annoy me. Use your valuable time to help other people. Be a good person.

If there would be a god, I'm sure that god would feel the same way. If an atheist would come to the gate (boy will that person be surprised), having lived his life well having been a nice person, I'm sure the atheist would go to heaven. If a strong believer who said his prayers 10 times a day comes to the gate who died in jail because he had done something really bad, I'm sure that person is going to hell, no matter how many times that person asks for forgiveness.

So don't worry about it. It's not strange to worry about it, but you really shouldn't. It's no use.

some people believe in god, some don't. some people believe in religion, again some don't. no one is right, no one is wrong. your feelings or nonfeelings are coming from you. you will have to decide what you can do to get those feelings back.

in any case, don't worry about dying. your last thoughts and feelings won't change anything.
