Prostitution has a part in our society, it has been with us since well before recorded history. In jurisdictions, such as Holland, where it is legal, they have far fewer problems associated with it. First of all, Pimps and Organized Criminal Groups are deprived of using prostitution as a means of providing a livlihood. Second, the prostitutes pay taxes on the income they earn. Third, the prostitutes are largely drug-free, thus further depriving Organized Criminal Groups a livlihood. Fourth, the prostitutes are screened regularly for STD's, which saves taxpayer dollars in the long run.
THE ONLY WAY THAT THIS IS EVER GOING TO CHANGE, IS IF YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
Organize. If you live in a jurisdiction where prostitution is illegal, work to change the law. Write to ALL your elected political representatives at ALL levels; local, county, state/ province and federal.

Men should control their sex drive, just as people control hunger and learn to pee and poop in a toilet. Prostitution is a response to a men's lack of sensitivity regarding women's dignity, same as porn. When having sex as a prostitute, women are being placed in the position of objects. There are studies that confirm that men tend to look at them the same way the see a hammer. Did you know that in the netherlands prostitution is legal and regulated. recently laws have been passed for prostitutes to carry around id's that have their name and an id number without any personal information. men and women are supposed to ask to see this id before they engage in relations with a prostitute to make sure he/she isn't under 21. Also, last year, the government proposed that they would start asking prostitutes to pay taxes on their earnings.

I'm not sure I agree with this but, guys need to understand that girls are NOT fucking sex toys!!!! I'm actually for the legalisation of prostitution, too. I don't agree that they prevent rape, though. People don't rape because it's the only way they can get sex. It's not that simple.

I don't believe that prostitution prevents rape. Most rapists are known to their victims, and rape is almost always about asserting power, degrading and punishing the victim, not about the perpetrator's uncontrolled sexual desire.
