Is it normal that i actively watch a show for little girls?
last year, I began to become confused by the ever-growing amount of "pony" material scattered throughout the internet, I was inclined to find out the cause of this, and soon traced it to a growing fanbase of teenage/adult males watching "My Little Pony, Friendship Is Magic", often referred to as "bronies"
at first I wasn't enthusiastic about the whole pony thing, not that I had a problem with it, just that I didn't deem it necessary in my life, but material like this is not easily avoided, I began to watch the show out of boredom, boredom that quickly turned into an expression of "wow this show is awesome", the creators have created a mix of character, animation, context, voice acting,etc... that just makes it more enjoyable than many other shows, now the realization didn't come with much security that this was a show for little girls, but I figured that sometimes people simply do things not meant for them, and are inevitably going to get bashed for it, now around five months later two of my friends start watching the show, both liked it, and this led me to believe that it was normal to watch the show, but then a certain reaction from someone suggested otherwise, someone in our "circle of friends" just started hating and didn't let up, as if he was being paid to do so, It really pissed me off that he hadn't watched the show and was basing his opinion that we were homosexual pedophiliac manchildren off the simple fact that it was a kid's show, I've never really gotten on well with this guy and so I question whether it is a matter of who he's hating on or what he's hating on for, but anyway, I need some public opinion, because the ones I hear don't carry enough depth or quantity, so the question is
"is it normal that I am male, and actively watch the show, "My Little Pony, Friendship Is Magic"
