Is it normal that he wants to do this with me?

Okay, is it normal that a friend I've never spoken to in years wants to hang out with me and share drinks with me even though he says he straight and has a girlfriend? Before 2 weeks ago, I havent spoken to him in almost 2 years, and even then I spoke to him rarely as he was just a friend of a friend. Lets call this guy Mark for now. Ok, Mark was the friend of my friend Joseph, and they had a falling out and never spoke again. During this time I spoke to him about 5 times total; I didnt really know him at all. Now after 2 years, he's moved where I live and on the first night, he got a hold of my number and called me. Ever since we've been hanging out and for some odd reason, he keeps asking/offering to share drinks with me, even in front of his new girlfriend of 1 week. I dont think he's gay or anything, but who knows, its just weird that he does it with a straight face for me. Not only that, but he always makes gay jokes about it/us. I dont know if he's joking or not anymore. BTW I'm a guy. Do guys usually share drinks with other guys they're not related to? I mean we're almost perfect strangers; what could this mean? Any thoughts?

Well maybe he needs a friend. If he tries to go all gay, tell him no. But maybe he just needs someone to talk to. If you like him (as a friend) nurture the relationship and enjoy yourself.

I believe this is what the experts like to call friendship. The guy has just moved to a new area, and you are a familiar face. I wouldn't read too much into the gay jokes either, guys who are totally secure about their heterosexuality often joke around with their male friends.

He wants to know if you are really guy, or he knows so and wants to make you feel uncomfortable.

just be friends with him sounds like he is either gay or desperate for a friend
