Is it normal that he's talking about marriage after 5 months?

We met online. We've been a thing for a little over 5 months now. And he's already talking about how much he'd love to marry me. We've talked about settling down, buying a house, having kids. It makes me happy, but is it normal for this to come up so quickly?

  • In real-life relationships, you spend more time *doing* things together (including having sex). So, discussing these type of 'serious' topics won't come up as quickly as when you're put in a situation when all you're ever doing is *communicating* with each other.

In cultures or religions where sex before marriage is a complete no-no, many people get engaged and married sooner than what's typical in relationships where there is no waiting for sex. I'm not sure that waiting guarantees the success of the relationship, just that it speeds up those 'serious' conversations about future expectations.

Therefore, I believe it's normal the topic of marriage has already come up in your online relationship of 5 months. Just keep in mind that *some* people can be all talk and no action. ;)

Totally normal. I married my partner on the first date. My whole family said I was crazy and that it would never work out, but boy were they wrong. It's our 3 day anniversary today and we are still going strong!

Yup totally it means he's serious about being with you but if he's had a past of being a player be careful, he might be luring you in to break you down

I think that this sometimes happen when both parties have the same expectations. With my actual boyfriend we began talking about those things real early in the relationship and we're still together.

    • Yeah, we both feel the same way, want the same things. I wasn't really shocked by anything he's said so far.

Usually, this would considered a red flag. However, some people really do click but I still think you should get to know him better before you start marrying him and having children.

Is that an artist's creation of a woman in your profile?

Like the previous profile pic I had, its fashion photography by Serge Lutens. In a sense, what you asked is correct. :)

    • I don't think so. He's only a few years older than me and lives about an hour away. So, it's not like either of us have to move anywhere.

    Have you actually met up?

Sometimes you just 'know'; things 'click'. Is it maybe not the same for you?
