Is it normal that he pays attention and then ignores me?

There is a boy I like and I am ridiculously shy and can barely speak to him with out turning into a stuttering idiot. Sometimes he will be really nice and ask me about my week and we'll talk other times he completely ignores me as in I'll be standing with a group of friends and he'll say something to each one of them and not even look at me. Is it normal that he's so back and forth like that?

    Does he talk with you on your own and not with a group of peers? Ask him about it. "I notice you avoid eye contact and speaking to me when we are with a group. What gives?"

    it might be that he doesn't know how to approach you, your shyness could be interpreted as you aren't interested. if you are, then try to talk to him and he may not ignore you. He sounds like he is unsure of how you feel about him. He may not know you care because you might not approach him. And by a approach, I mean, just say, hey what's up or how are you. He may also be shy. by saying something to him, it shows that you are interested in him as a friend or whatever. you can't expect him to do all the work.
