My 17 year old son has smoked weed every day for about a year we have openly talked to him about this. He is trying to quit He says his mind will not stop He is thinking all the time and he thinks he is going crazy his thoughts jump from one thing to another. and he finds is hard to sleep. Does anyone know what is going on with him. Is it normal?
sounds like a minimum of ADD or ADHD. I've been like that for a long time. It's especially bad at night when I try to sleep.
weed isn't really the worst thing he could be doing. and compared to some of the medications dr.s may want to put him on, you may prefer it.
depending on other symptoms he may or may no realize he has, it could also be bi-polar. your best bet is to talk to a dr, if you want to get a more firm diagnosis and find out options.
There are lots of highly functional pot smokers though. they don't all end up in their parents basements
Yes I mostly all the time think about one thing then jump onto something else and so on.
Tell him that weed doesnt help and in time it will make him in to a person with alot more understanding on subjects others wont understand.
Two things alerted me. His mind not stopping and also jumping from one thing to another. Those questions are asked frequently in psychological surveys. I'd suggest seeing a doctor and explicitly mentioning those two symptoms in particular.
Weed is known to cause schizophrenia. That is probably what is causing him to do that.
We can be helpful if he used it to help with something.
But he is abusing it and abusing weed can cause many issues.
I have the same problem, minus smoking marijuana. Thanks for the idea, maybe that will help me calm my thoughts :)
get some help with this one, he might need some diazepam to help him thru the rough times
