Is it normal that he never gave me the ring?

a year ago i had a boyfriend who i loved more than anything.. he broke my heart (didnt cheat or anything) and we didnt see each other or speak for a year.
he called me with a heart filled apology and we bacame friends, but soon more than that because i never stopped loving him and he said he realized what he had with me..
he told his mom he was thinking about getting me a ring for christmas.. a "promise ill never break your heart again" ring.. she mentioned it to me and i was excited.. he didnt know i knew.. buuuuttt i never got a ring.. is something wrong? is that normal?

    Maybe he needed the money for a bill or maybe was not able to ever come up with the funds. His mother should not have told you. Suffering comes from wanting. You don't get your hopes up over what you don't know is coming.

    So, don't be upset. Just go on with your relationship per norm.

    The boys mother is a saboteur and probably also a cockblock. my guess is the boy plans on breaking your heart and saving his parents hard-earned money to buy some lame promise ring for some other girl that he'll pretend to love and then dump.

    Key words: "he was thinking about getting me a ring". Doesnt mean he WAS getting you one. He probably thought a shotgun wedding was destined a little further up the road but then you had your period.
