Is it normal that guys listen or prefer a female singer?

So is it weird to see a guy listen to "girly" music?

Like the another day I was at the bus and I saw this guy jamming to Katy Perry, and signing to Britney Spears "Baby hit me One More Time" like if we were in the 90s.

I wanna keep this short, so tell me what you guys think. Is weird if you were to see your best friend or maybe even boyfriend listen to something like Ariana Grande, or Avril Lavigne?

I think it's weird for anyone to legitimately enjoy Katy Perry's "music."

I think its kinda strange, but I do have an ex-army friend that listens to that crap. Of course he acts like a teenage girl, but thats another story.

To be honest, I don't really get the idea that music made by men is more macho anyway. There's nothing that seems macho to me about listening One Direction or Pharrell Williams or Coldplay or Robin Thicke or Justin Timberlake. Pop music sung by men is almost always either marketed at women or positioned for gender-neutral consumption.

Maybe my brain isn't working at fully capacity this morning but, excluding pop hip hop, I can't think of a single pop musician who I would associate with macho masculinity.

It is to me. Of the chart pop I listen to, the singer is a woman most of the time. I love Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj, and back in the day I was reppin' Sugababes and Girls Aloud. I also really like the band CHVRCHES. I even enjoy Miley Cyrus, kinda. I could list for ages. And of course there's plenty I don't like, too (I'm not a fan of Lana Del Rey, for example).

Music sung by girls makes up quite a bit of my non-pop listening too. Even in punk, which is a ridiculously male-dominated world, it's about 30%.

29/m. I don't get into the pop charts too much these days, but I like listening to Beyonce, Whitney, and even Vanessa Williams. There's no requirement that men subscribe to society's definition of macho, and I don't think this effects one too much. There's no problem.
