Is it normal that girls are so uptight about masturbation and sex?

I recently moved to a very rural area and I am attending the local highschool Ive noticed that about 50% of girls often very offended by the mention of sex even as a joke and farther more every girl ive gotten to know well enough denies they masturbate some get extremely offended while others just deny it, even the ones who had no problems telling me they havent been virgins since 12 and and telling me about it all deny it. Are they telling the truth and this is an abornmal school or are most of them just liars?

    Girls don't really like to talk about it. It can be embarrassing and many don't want to seem too sexual. For guys it's ok because try know all other guys do it. But a lot of gels don't. For the ones that do it is very personal. People in rural areas can also tend to be a little more um conservative I guess so that might have something to do with it
