Is it normal that getting married is getting me this much attention?

I recently got married. When I updated my relationship status on Facebook to indicate that, I started getting messages mostly from single women who know me from real life. They are along the lines of, "I'm so jealous of your wife", "if I knew time was running out I would have made a move on you myself", "I wish you weren't getting off the market so early", and so on. I wouldn't have been surprised to get them from one or two women I actually had a thing with, but I'm getting them from women I never would have guessed ever had much interest in me. A friend I brought it up to says women want what they can't have, and that getting married will make them fawn over me now that they know their chance is gone. Does this happen to anyone else?
