Is it normal that family members are fake?

Using 'fake' like this is an obvious tell that you're still a kid. Family and friends who only seem to care about you in tough times aren't 'fake', they're 'just not very close'. Learning that this is fine is part of growing up.
And how often did YOU contact these family members before this happened?
I don't know about fake, but, if the family isn't close, this is fairly normal. I get along notably well with my oldest sister, yet, with some others, back and forth or sometimes, situational. We all put on fronts to not make waves (and, likely, complain later), but that's also pretty standard.
Or maybe then they realized how much they care about you and how they wouldn't want to have you permanently gone because they love you?? You ungrateful butthead
I will write a play about fake family members where all the members in a family will be fake but the will not know about it.
