Is it normal that everyone keeps asking stupid questions?

Some of the questions on here are so deep and you can tell that people are genuinely worried, but then you get questions like:
"is it normal my big toe's shorter than my middle one?"
"is it normal that I don't like how I look?"
"is it normal that I don't have a boyfriend at 13?"
"is it normal I'm 4'1" and weigh 8745413553747865lbs?"

GAH!

Yes, that's why we're here. 17
Only some. 6
Meh. 6
It's a bit annoying. 18
Go to hell, you attention seeking idiots! 13
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

IIN that a common post on here is "IIN that i hate all the stupid repetitive questions"?

  • Sometimes the stupidest questions also end up being the funniest one's to read.

Is it normal my penis gets bigger when I see a picture of boobies?

Is it normal my sister has been giving me handjobs while I have been taking a shit?

Is it normal I woke up in the middle of having sex with my dog the other night?

I get pissed at the ones that so obviously don't need to be asked like: INN that I like to stick broken glass up my butthole? Of course it's not f***ing normal! Everybody knows it's not normal. What kind of retard are you?

    "IIN I'm 4'1" and weigh 8745413553747865lbs?" That's huge bitch!

But really, isn't this sight about putting your securities out in public and getting others opinions on them? Whatever they may be?

I think that it is probably normal for a site like this. I try to ignore the truly ridiculous ones.

They're not "stupid" questions, though, are they? They're "common" questions. They're the anxieties we all feel at some point in our lives.

From the point of view of an IIN user, yes, it can be annoying to see the same question for the hundredth time (I've been here long enough that I'm sure I've seen some things a hundred times). But it's not like each person asking it has ganged up and posted it on purpose to annoy us. They're individuals with, to them, what seem individual problems.

One thing I'm always wary of personally is that I sometimes derive entertainment value from IIN (there are some seriously funny people here). That doesn't mean I have a right to be entertained, though, or that those people are even here to entertain me. It also doesn't mean that someone who doesn't entertain me is therefore annoying me.

I do know what you mean, though, and if IIN was a book or a film, I'd wonder what the editors were up to. But it's more like real-life and this is kind of like real-life is. :)

    • What I find stupid about them is the fact that lots of these problems, no matter what the answer may be, can't be solved, so why ask if it's normal?
Other ones are questions that we all know the answer to and the people asking them are obviously in need of attention. It's like they've never opened there eyes or ever done anything. How can someone not know that it's common to not like how you look?

Check out the main page of the website...

"Curious how others might perceive your situation? Ask your question today and find out what others think... "

And that's what they are doing. It doesn't say "ask for a solution to your problem", it says, if you are curious about how others perceive your situation, ask and see! It's not about needing attention, it's not about being an idiot or even whether or not it is normal, we ask our questions because we want to see how others perceive our situation. Maybe they are looking for attention, maybe they are looking for confirmation, but I'm no omnipotent God, I can't decide that based off of the nature of their post alone and I'm not going to dismiss the validity of their question BECAUSE of it, even if I do feel that way. If you're that annoyed by other people's perceptions, then you're probably not on a suitable website for you.

Common sense is subjective, dude. Not everyone has the pleasure of having this worldly knowledge, not everyone is in an environment where people are open and honest with themselves and not everyone has someone to go to to ask. There are so many different situations and social environments that people live in, and so many perceptions that are shaped and molded by these environments that sometimes, we need to get a point of view from a different perspective.

If you don't like the questions and don't want to answer them, then don't! But we are not all so "enlightened", and these problems may seem insignificant to you, but that does not mean that they are not valid to someone else.

You don't need to feel bad for me. At work, people ask me questions about work. With my friends, they ask about things that mean something to us. On IIN, people ask all kinds of things and I answer (some of) those too. These things are different.

I understand what you are saying but, there is a search bar here on IIN you know?

People should use the search bar to find answers to similar questions they are looking for. And if the question hasn't been asked before then they should ask it. So in a sence yes, they are "stupid" questions because the users didn't think to search before they asked them.

I think that this is more to blame on management for approving these questions to begin with, there IS a panel on the side of the post that states this but if they only approved of "good" questions, then there would not be much activity here.

True. I used to have people ask me questions at work and then I typed their question into Google, while they watched, and pointed at the answer. They still didn't get it, and still came to me to ask me.

On the other side of the coin, I think people sometimes ask questions here just for attention and they wouldn't get that attention if they were self-sufficient in finding an answer.

Perhaps it's time to realize that everyone eventually asks the same thing, or something similar.

Since they're so common, I usually make a comment to tell them to search since it has been asked before.
