Is it normal that every time i shave i cut myself?

Every single time I shave my face I cut myself at least once. Am I not doing it right?

I use a regular Gillette razor. Is it easier with an electric razor?

    1. Shave after a hot shower. Splash HOT water on your face.

    2. Get a good lather with whatever cream you use and apply it over your face.

    3. Be sure the blade you are using is fresh. A fresh sharp blade is much easier to shave with and does not irritate the skin.

    4. Rinse the blade in hot water after each stroke so it doesn't clog up with hair/cream.

    5. Take slow, careful strokes going down, not up.

Other than that you just need practice. I'm guessing you are young and newer to shaving. If you can grow a beard I'd recommend that, it is how I avoid shaving everything but my neck.

I wouldn't recommend electrics. They don't cut as close and always bothered my skin.

I use Gillette blades too because disposables cut me up and the alternative here (Wilkinson Sword) used to cut me too. I've got into a routine where I don't think I've cut myself for five years.

Couple of tips. Don't apply too much pressure on the razor. Just enough to cut the bristles. You may have to go back and do an area twice or three times. That's fine. Better than a cut-up face. Don't shave upwards (only down). Unless you've got virtually no stubble left. You can get away with shaving upwards then. Be careful with new blades. Shave even lighter than usual. If you shave straight after a bath or shower, the bristles will be softer. Use enough foam/gel to lubricate the shave but not so much that it's difficult to judge how much pressure you can feel on your face from the blade.

Or go electric. I've had a few electrics but always went back to wet shaving.

    Use an electric. Or wax.
