Is it normal that certain smells remind me of feelings for someone?

Every once in a while I'll catch a whiff of something that's not normal and I'll instantly identify the fact that this reminds me of (blank) and I'll continue to smell it and the longer I do the more memories and feelings I felt about that person come back to me. For instance a certain smell reminds me of this girl that I care for alot and once I smell it I picture her and a rush of feelings and memories of us come over me, this is the most common smell relation thing that I have I guess because I feel so strongly for her..Is it normal??

    Smell and memory are more closely related than any of the other senses. I'm not sure scientists even know why yet. In particular, smells trigger very vividly specific memories such as your grandma's house on a specific day. It happens to me now and again and I generally like it.

    I know its very weird and that happens to me all the time. I'm glad someone understands me because whenever I'm like 'Ohh this smells like [blank]!' poeople always think I'm weird for saying that and think I'm being over the top. I don't know why it happens...it just does...
