Is it normal that blotches have developed on my skin?

I have no idea what caused this because it may have been a number of things, but I never had these random blotches before. Within the year, these dark-colored patches have appeared on my arm and chest. There's no dryness or irregularities in the patches. They're just darker than the rest of my skin. I use oil-based body make-up that exacerbates it, but have never had this problem before.

    I too have what sounds like the same thing. My doctor told me that it's a common fungus. Mine usually is more visible when the weather is hot and humid. Go to Wal*Mart and get a tube of Lotrimin. (You can buy the Equate brand). It doesn't take much to treat it. Make sure you dry off good after you shower and maybe apply some powder to help absorb moisture. I'm not a dermatologist, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. If it's the same thing I have and you use the cream I suggested, you'll see results within a week.
