Is it normal that believe that having kids is selfish?

I believe that if a person has kids, that person is selfish and narcisstic. Breeding is selfish because breeders do it for themselves. There isn't one reason they give that isn't selfish and revolving round "I want" and "Me". They breed because they want their kids to look after them in old age, to perpetuate the family line, they want to see what their hypothetical birthchild looks like by reproducing, they don't want to be lonely in old age, and to have mini-mes. The only parents who are selfless are the ones who adopt kids in need of homes from orphanages and foster care. Why are they selfless? Because they are giving existing kids homes and parents while people who have biological children are just adding more people to our overpopulated world. Even the Childfree are more selfless than breeders. IIN?

I think it can be normal for people with Asperger's Syndrome traits to think in such a way.

It seems that you value nature above everything else, and you reason one-sidedly from that perspective.

You come up with a lot of reasons why people would want babies, and to some extent those reasons may be accurate, but it seems that you impute rational motives for having children to people to too great an extent. It seems that you underestimate their instinctual wanting to have kids and overestimate their reasoning for having kids.

Some of your comments make it seem like you lack empathy, and expect people to act in a mostly rational way. It seems that you think that people should use their rationality to live their life guided by some ideals (nature and the environment having great worth) that you have chosen (more or less) arbitrarily to be important.

"I believe that if a person eats, that person is selfish and narcisstic. Eating is selfish because eaters do it for themselves. There isn't one reason they give that isn't selfish and revolving round "I want" and "Me". They eat because they want to live. Why? For themselves, the selfish scumbags. The only eaters who are selfless are the ones who grow their own food. Why are they selfless? Because they're not taking food unnecessarily away from starving children, that's why. IIN?"

What I'm trying to say is that while what you are saying is true, it's as unrealistic to expect people avoid the natural compulsion to have their own children as it is to expect them to avoid the natural compulsion to eat. There's no sense in demonising people who have their own kids. A more effective and positive strategy is to celebrate people who do adopt. I know, I'm being unnecessarily aggressive :L

It's natural to want to have your own children. Why would women knowingly choose to go through weeks of sickness, months of feeling tired and emotionally drained, hours of agony and then a life time of worry if it wasn't for the forces of nature making us feel the 'need' to do this?

People have children for different reasons and not all those involve selfishness.
